Carpets for Wimbledon Family Houses
Many Wimbledon homes are large Victorian and Edwardian houses, with tall staircases, wide landings and several bedrooms. The stairs and hall take the most wear, so they need a dense carpet that keeps its shape on the treads. Bedrooms can go softer and deeper.
- Wool carpets from Brintons, Westex and Hugh Mackay, including the Brintons Laura Ashley collection
- Soft bedroom carpets such as Cormar Aurora and Cavalier Silken
- Stair carpet and runners, see our stair runners and the stairs guide
Natural Flooring for Halls and Stairs
Sisal, seagrass and wool blends suit the period hallways and staircases you find across Wimbledon. They give a natural texture that sits well with original features, and the tighter weaves wear well on stairs.
See natural flooring from Crucial Trading, or an easy clean sisal look such as Fibre Pinstripe Boucle if you have children or pets. Unnatural Flooring has the same look in a fibre that is easier to clean.
Hard Floors for Kitchens and Living Rooms
For a kitchen extension or an open plan living space, a hard floor is often the better choice:
- Engineered and hardened wood: such as Bjelin hardened wood flooring from V4 Flooring
- Vinyl and LVT: water resistant and warm underfoot, see Premoda herringbone vinyl and the rest of our vinyl range
- Laminate: a wood look on a tighter budget from Xylo
Our guide to vinyl, laminate or wood flooring explains the differences.
